Race Description:
After two years of second place, Art Reilly finally broke through for the victory in the 6th edition of the Independence Day Road Race. Jean Olds likewise had her breakthrough moment, ending Diane Tedford's bid for a third consecutive win and setting a new course record of 17:32 in the process. The 1991 edition of the race was also notable for the course change. While still certified at 5k, the race ran the opposite direction of the parade route on North Street, confusing some spectators and leading to a few near-mishaps with the lead pack.
