Race Description:
The seventh edition of the NASC road race (later renamed the "Sam Gomez Classic") was held on October 21, 1984. Proceeds were donated to "A Child's Wish Come True", a national organization that works to grant the wishes of terinally and chronically ill children. The traditional categories were offered including first NASC student and first city resident, as well as a four-person team award. Steve Bugbee of Adams won his fourth consecutive 9.25 miler, while Ted Hutch repeated in the 2.7-mile event. Bethany Smith of North Adams won the long race for the women, while Michele Chenail won the women's short race.
