Race Description:

The fifth NASC road race (later renamed the "Sam Gomez Classic") was held on Halloween, 1982. A record 150 runners participated, with 88 opting for the shorter race. The proceeds were donated to the North Adams Little League. Steve Bugbee won #3 in the long event with a time of 49:22. David Shoots won the 2.7-mile event with a record time of 12:54, with defending champ Jim Zepka finishing in second. Sandy French won the women's division of the long race in 57:25, while Marilyn Markou took the short race in 17:12.
