Race Description:

The seventh edition of the NASC road race (later renamed the "Sam Gomez Classic") was held on October 21, 1984. Proceeds were donated to "A Child's Wish Come True", a national organization that works to grant the wishes of terinally and chronically ill children. The traditional categories were offered including first NASC student and first city resident, as well as a four-person team award. 99 runners competed in the race, with 36 opting for the long event. Steve Bugbee of Adams won his fourth consecutive 9.25 miler, while Ted Hutch repeated in the 2.7-mile event. Bethany Smith of North Adams won the long race for the women, while Michele Chenail won the women's short race.
